Jama Connect Interchange User Guide

Link to your Jira instance

This section guides you in setting up a Jira connector. In this process, you identify the Jira user account that Interchange uses to authenticate with Jira.

After the integration is set up and information is flowing between Jama Connect and Jira, any updates made to items in Jira by the integration service appear to come from this account.

Requirements
  • A running Jira instance.

  • A Jira user account to be used by the integration service.

  • The account must have access to read and write to issues in Jira. You can use an existing Jira user’s account, or you can create a dedicated service account.

  • (Jira Cloud only) Generate an API token for the user account (refer to Atlassian Support documentation).

  • (Jira Data Center only) For Personal Access Token authentication, generate a personal access token for the user account (refer to Atlassian Support documentation).

To link to your Jira Cloud instance:

  1. In the Jama Connect Interchange header bar, select Connectors.

  2. On the Connectors page that opens, select Add Connector.

  3. On the Add New Connectors page, complete these fields:

    • Application — Select Jira Cloud.

    • Name — Type a descriptive name for the connector.

    • URL — Enter your Jira instance URL.

    • Verify SSL — Leave this option selected unless Jama Software Support instructed you to deselect it.

    • Authentication Type — Select Basic.

      • Email — Enter the email address for the Jira Cloud user account.

      • API Key —Enter the API token for the Jira Cloud user account.

  4. Select Submit.

To link to your Jira Data Center instance:

  1. In the Jama Connect Interchange header bar, select Connectors.

  2. On the Connectors page that opens, select Add Connector.

  3. On the Add New Connectors page, complete these fields:

    • Application — Select Jira Data Center.

    • Name — Type a descriptive name for the connector.

    • URL — Enter your Jira instance URL.

    • Verify SSL — Leave this option selected unless Jama Software Support instructed you to deselect it.

    • Authentication Type — Select Basic or Personal Access Token.

      Basic authentication:

      • Username — Enter the username for the Jira Data Center service account.

      • Password — Enter the password for the Jira Data Center service account.

      Personal Access Token authentication:

      • Personal Access Token — Enter the Personal Access Token for the Jira Data Center service account.

  4. Select Submit.
