Jama Connect Interchange User Guide

System and generated fields

Using Interchange, you can map a variety of systems and generated fields.

Jama Connect

Examples of Jama Connect system and generated fields include the following.

Jama Set ID — The Jama Set ID identifies the set or container to which an item belongs. To map the Jama Set ID, open the Field Mappings page and select Jama Set ID – Text (read only) in the left drop-down list. Typically, you map this field to a custom text field (type = short text) in Jira. The Jama Set ID can also be mapped for Excel Functions integrations.

Release — The Release field in Jama Connect can be mapped directly to the Fix Version field in Jira, or to another multi-select and text type field. When mapping to a multi-select field, such as Fix Version, make sure that the picklist values in each system match exactly.

Tags — Tags added to an item in Jama Connect can be written to a text field in the Jira item. For integration purposes, the Tags field in Jama Connect is read-only and one-way: Jama Connect tags can be sent to Jira but can’t be updated based on changes made in Jira.

Jama URL — The URL for the Jama Connect item can be written to a text field type in the Jira item. A user in Jira can then easily identify and access the linked Jama Connect item.

Version History — The Version History fields list the changes made to a Jama Connect item. This information can be written to a text field in the Jira item. The two types of Version History fields are:

  • Version History (Since last Sync) — The integration reads any changes made to the item since the last sync.

  • Version History (All) — The integration reads any changes made to the item since its initial creation.

Constant — Use the Constant field to write a static value from Jama Connect to Jira. For more information on how to use this field, see Required fields exist in other system.

Jira

Examples of Jira system and generated fields include the following.

Jira URL — The URL for the Jira item can be written to a text or URL field type in the Jama Connect item. A user in Jama Connect can then easily identify and access the linked Jira item.

Jira Key — The Jira item’s key (ID) can be mapped one-way to a field in the Jama Connect item.

Jira Epic/Parent — The name of the Jira item’s Epic or Parent can be mapped one-way to a field in the Jama Connect item. In the Field Mappings picklist, this option is called Parent – Text.

Constant — Use the Constant field to write a static value from Jira to Jama Connect. For more information on how to use this field, see Required fields exist in other system.
